Science fiction big loss: Ben Bova has passed away

It was a flight just went 24 hours mistakenly to the Changi airport. There was a conference in Singapore on celebrating  80th birthday of Murray Gell-Mann for a life time achievement in high energy physics. I walked through streets trying to be awake to not to sleep to miss the flight. During random walking in a shopping mall half opened, checked a stand in the middle of B-floor. I saw a sci fi book between other random subjects. The price was good and I told myself why not. It has been more than 10 years I have not tried sci fi but science! And I started sci fi after that conference again!

 It was The Silent War (vol 2 of Astroid Wars) by Ben Bova. Later during my travels I bought some few others of his books and read other 3 books of Grand Tour which this 4 vol series is part of them. He received some critics for unnecessary violence in GT in his recent works which I have not read till now and cannot  write it is true or just some conservative critics and people always sensitive to private subjects (as they say). Underrated series like other books by Bova. His pen was naughty, professional and pretty classic after the golden age of sci fi has past started by Asimov, Heinlein and other giants.

 Grand Tour starts with Powersat another underrated book which clearly we see entrepreneurs and government similar high tech plants hidden wars to take over natural sources  prepare to start business on the Moon, Asteroids, which actually we are entering this era in reality.

 Moon series (two volumes), Jupiter Series (two volumes), Mars (3 volumes) are the series inside near 20 GT collection but readers can enjoy each one they pick. He won many prizes including 6 Hugo awards. Check his other collections here.

 But GT is just one of the collections he wrote. Voyager and Orion are other famous collections and was editor of many collections which Hugo awards refers to those works.

Science Fiction has lost one of its classic writers on Nov. 29th.
